Young Investors Prefer Crypto

Almost half of crypto owners globally are in the 18 to 34 age bracket according to ongoing surveys.

According to the Finder cryptocurrency adoption index, it’s our youth who see the most value in cryptocurrencies during the current global economic meltdown. Older people are perhaps more distrustful of new technologies, but even so, almost a third of people in the 35 to 54 age bracket also own crypto.

It’s the UK where the crypto ownership split is the most pronounced. 62% of the crypto owning population is 34 years of age or younger.

Nevertheless, it appears that crypto ownership is in a downward trend since last year. No doubt due to failing economies across the globe, and the fact that people have less money to spend on crypto assets.

In the US, crypto ownership is down 2.5 million since the previous survey by Finder in January 2022. This leaves around 24.7 million US internet users who still own these assets.

Bitcoin is still the most owned crypto across the world, and in the US 44% of crypto portfolios consisted of the number one cryptocurrency, although this is down 8% since November 2021.

However, in India, crypto ownership is rocketing. According to Finder, around 286 million internet users say they own crypto, and this is up 61.6 million since the previous survey.

India is now the number 1 out of 27 countries surveyed for crypto ownership. Only 29.3% of Indians who own crypto have bitcoin in their portfolio. This is down from 35.2% in January 2022. Solana is the second most popular crypto among Indians, with 22% of those surveyed owning it.

Across the world, men are far more likely to own crypto than women. 63% of men as opposed to 37% of women is the split. In both Germany and Singapore the split is as high as 73%/27%.
